The Dodge Charger has been a muscle car, a personal luxury coupe, and a four-door sedan over six generations — but the name is inseparable from the 1968–1970 fastback with hidden headlights and a Coke-bottle profile. The modern Charger kept the Hemi spirit alive into the 2020s.
Generations and evolution
First generation (1966–1967)
A fastback 'personal car' with a full-width grille; less famous than what followed but the template.
Second generation (1968–1970)
The icon: hidden headlights, a tunnel-back roofline, and 426 Hemi and 440 Six Pack power. This is the Charger everyone draws.
Third / fourth / fifth (1971–2005)
A long stretch of evolving coupes and even a front-wheel-drive hatchback, as the muscle era cooled and the nameplate drifted.
LX-platform sedan (2006–2023)
The Charger returned as a rear-wheel-drive V8 sedan — the SRT8, then the Hellcat and Demon-liveried variants kept the muscle flag flying.
Final V8 / 'Last Call' (2023–2024)
Dodge ended the Hemi V8 Charger with special editions before moving the name to a future EV.
Design language and the silhouette
The 1968–1970 fastback is pure Coke-bottle: a long, dipping roofline and a wide stance. The modern sedan trades the roofline for a four-door muscle proportion, but the wide grille and hood scoop keep it unmistakably a Charger. Because we cut every Tinvibe piece from 2 mm steel to the car's true outline, the traits that make the Dodge Charger recognizable — its roofline, stance and key details — are exactly what the metal keeps, in matte black powder coat across five sizes from 50 cm to 140 cm.
Production, sales and availability
Dodge built roughly 96,000 Chargers for 1968 and similar numbers through 1970; total first-generation output was around 250,000. Modern Hellcat numbers are published by Stellantis but the classic cars are the collectibles.
The Charger in the Tinvibe collection
We cut the Dodge Charger as a laser-cut steel silhouette in five sizes from 50 cm to 140 cm, finished in matte black powder coat. The designs below are drawn from our catalogue for this nameplate.
